Over the past few months, and more so in the last few weeks, Zaz has been even more expressive, articulate and entertaining than usual.
As always, she has such a sense of humour and wit and even when she seems to be completely in her own world of drawing or playing, she suddenly pipes up and adds something so perceptive to the conversation….we’re constantly surprised and laughing.
All the things she says are made even funnier when accompanied with the expression in her face and voice:
· A little while ago Zaz was at granny, Bern and Cass’s house helping get dinner ready. Granny kept walking around with a sharp knife which Cass had repeatedly told her to be careful with and she came very close to Zaz’s head, so at that point Cass shouted and told Bern that she nearly cut Zaz’s head…so being the peace keeper she is, zaz very calmly and logically said “Ye, but she didn’t and THAT’S all that matters!”
· Zaz was helping Gia move rooms when she was in hospital after having Azi. The nurse was asking her about school…long story short, she proceeded to tell her how she fought “the biggest boy in school” and how he doesn’t bully or hurt anyone anymore because “he doesn’t have his CREW”
· We were talking about Romy’s friend and Zaz’s friend having the same surname, she said “Maybe they’re related!”
· She proved how much she listens to everyone around her…one day she was jumping through the waves at the beach with Cass, and started giving them all made up names. But then she started calling some a “Jamie Oliver” (Phil & Gia’s fave chef) and “Bobba misa” (The Yiddish word for made up stories that Bern and her talk about).
· One day she bought something for Cass and before giving it to her she said “I got you something you weren’t EXPECTING”
· She was swimming in the tidal pool and started watching some boys. She went up to Cass to report on what they were doing, saying “They were watching the seaweed squirt and ADMIRING it”
· Again in the tidal pool, she needed to get out to make a toilet trip, but couldn’t take her boogie board…so she got an enlightened look on her face and said “I need someone to take care of it and I know JUST the person!”
· There was a little girl in the tidal pool who was telling Zaz her name (a very strange one) and how she didn’t come from Australia (despite her and her parents’ obvious local accents)…Zaz was onto her lies and said to Cass “I think she lives in her own imaginary world”
· Zaria has her “bestie” (as she calls it) friend over - Ashley for the whole day ... Ashley is quite loud ... So when Ashley left, a while later, ZaZ said: “I need to relax and watch TV, Ashley has been in my SPACE all day, I have a bit of a headache”
· Gia and Zaz were at the park the other day with friends during Pesach, ZaZ called Gia aside and put her hand in front of her mouth and said,: “Mom, I didn't want to embarrass the other children, but why are they eating crackers on Pesach”
· She went to friends on Pesach and had matzah pizza for lunch, but Gia was still hungry after coming home from them. So Cass asked why the adults hadn’t had lunch…so matter of factly zaz put her hand out to the side, tilted her head and said: “Well I mean what are you supposed to give adults for lunch on pesach!?”
A few new words that are popping up correctly in her sentences: relies on you, surprisingly, no option, figured out, on second thought
