Dad just wants to eat me up!

Especially when I wear these sunnies!

(I told mom - I don't really like these sunnies as they get tangled in my hair when I put them on my head!)

Zaz as very own rainbow computer!

Zaz saw the box ... Thought about what to do with it, designed the computer, painted it, cut out the pictures ...

I give all the thanks to zaz teacher Shelly for inspiring zaz with these crafty ideas! Thanks shel!

Australian day is huge in oz!

Saturday morning in Sydney!

Zaz says the funniest things...

Aunty Cas says- Over the past month and a half or so that Gia and Zaz have been here, we’ve been kept constantly entertained by Zaz’s comments on everything, the way she knows what’s potting all the time, the funny way she interprets what we say or do and her unique way of talking about things (with such expression in her face and voice)...So here are just some of the things we remember.

I was at the park with Zaz and a little boy and his mum came along.

Zaz sat on the see saw with the little boy (who couldn’t talk yet) and kept asking him questions..when he didn’t respond, she said to the mother “I think he doesn’t understand me because he doesn’t speak English.”

Then they both went on the swing and the mum told Zaz how her little boy loves the swing.

Zaz said “Well I don’t because I don’t like to relax, I like to be active.”

Zaz was watching TV and eating breakfast and I asked if she wanted to take Sush for a walk- she said “Let’s see how I feel” in an oh so madame sort of way.

On the note of walking Sush, we say let’s take S for a W, so Sush doesn’t get excited about the prospect of a walk.

Zaz has caught onto this very well and always wants to take S for a W.

‘The other day I was upstairs and said to Bern, please can you take S for a W...Zaz, who is always tuned in, shouted from downstairs “I’ll take her for a W!”

She was watching the show ‘Guess How Much I love you’, which is originally a book.

Zaz said “Oh they’ve changed the characters” (and then rambled on about what’s changed)...and then concluded with “Well I guess they can introduce new ones”

We were sitting in the kitchen and I gave her something to eat. I can’t really remember what it was, but she made some joke, after which she gave me a knowing look with a sly smile and glean in her eye and said “Kids love to tease”

We were on Camp Cove beach and I suggested Zaz and I take a walk down the beach. She asked where we were walking and when I pointed down the beach she said “Woo woo it’s so far”.

She also says shoow (the same way Gia does), as in shoow it’s hot, and phew.

Gia bought a good car seat for Zaz after searching for the right one for a while.

She previously told Zaz that when she gets a proper seat for her, she’ll start driving.

So when Gia came home with the seat, she said “Oh we got a seat, so this is my chance to check out your driving.”

Gia was riding a bike (for the first time in a while) so Zaz cheered her on with “Come on mom, you can do it, I know you can!!!”

Similar incident- We were in the Bondi baby pool and Zaz let a little girl borrow her boogie board. Zaz was sweetly telling her how to use it etc. And then when the girl did it, she was clapping and saying “Well done, you’re doing it!!”

We were making a rain stick from a long toilet roll..Zaz said “This is going to be INCREDIBLE”

Gia and Phil were going shopping for furniture and she told Zaz not to come with because it wouldn’t be fun for her.

Zaz followed Gia around while she got ready saying (in a very convincing and serious tone) “Mom, have you ever seen a 4 year old be patient! Well I’m going to show you. In my school, all the 4 year olds sit so patiently.”- Now who can argue with that!

We were playing some kind of pretend game and Zaz said that there was someone at the door. So I opened it and said that no one was there...She said “Use your imagination Aunty Cas”- It’s very amusing because she’s so aware of the pretend factor but manages to stay in character (whoever she’s being) and suspend her disbelief so well!

When they moved into their new apartment, she phoned me and excitedly said “I’ve got an ENORMOUS draw for my barbies”

We were watching Project Runway All Stars (that Kara is on) and it came to judging time.

Zaz: I’m shivering

Cass: Why, are you cold?

Zaz: I’m nervous cos I don’t know if Kara’s going to go home.

Then she kept asking “Is she safe?”

In the same episode, one of the models came out wearing a kind of silvery grey dress.

(pointing at the TV, with a flick of her wrist) “Now THAT’s good! Not too white, not too black, just perfect!”

Zaz, Ally and I were walking along the beach picking up shells and Ally was a bit behind us cos she was still collecting.

Zaz said “Omg Ally’s jolling”- It was hilarious, came out of nowhere.

A few mins later, she said “Aunty Cas you need to do a brisk walk to get all your energy out from sitting at work all day, or do you just have a jol?”

Bern was waiting to take Zaz home.

Bern: Zaz are you ready to go, daddy’s waiting

Zaz: (with a very high inflection) Well if daddy’s home then I’m DEFINITELY ready to go.

I love white peaches and nectarines, and lately Zaz decided she prefers them too.

I was eating one and she asked for one and then said “That’s SO Cassi!”

Zaz said to Gia “Can I see the emojis on your phone”

Gia told Zaz she would bring her special new watch (that she earned from getting enough stars on her chart) to Shabbat dinner. But then Gia forgot to bring it. So we sat in the car on the way there while Zaz cried about it cos she was so looking forward to it and felt so heart broken (when you’re 4, it’s the small things that are the centre of your life).

Through her tears, she said “I just don’t understand, can’t we go home and get it because I’m bursting out crying”- it was hard not to laugh.

We were having ice cream for dessert at Shabbat dinner and Zaz said “Unhealthy food is my FAVOURITE!”

Zaz was on Robs’ back....

Zaz:  I wish you were more like Aunty Cas, her back is more comfortable

Robs: Why?

Zaz: Because she has a big bum, so it’s like a chair.

I was horrified, but then we figured out that she thought my arms that I put under her bum for her to sit on was my bum- so cute.

I went to great effort to debunk the myth about my huge bum by demonstrating to her what I actually do.

So then she made me do an experiment- either putting my arms by my side or putting them under her bum. When she realised it was my hands she said “Oh ye that is much more comfortable” and giggled.

An adventurous walk around the neighbourhood

That involved a bike ride, flower picking (for Zaz's hair and a picture of it for Wobs), a stare down with a big barking dog (she showed no fear- notice her face growling back at it) and playing with a very cute puppy through the gate.

Story time on the beach

I love listening to Bernie's stories (even though I often tell him how it should go).

Bern: Ariel had long beautiful blonde hair
Zaz: no Bernie, she has red hair.
Bernie: I don't know anything about her
Zaz: well she has red hair and lives under the sea with her dad and a witch, that's it.
